  • Organic Synthesis.
  • Redox titrations involving manganate (VII) and sodium thiosulphate: Quantitative redox and electrode potentials. Use of Eo values in predicting reaction feasibility. fuel cells
  • Transition metal chemistry: Copper and Chromium. Chemistry of complexes.
  • Thermodynamics: enthalpy, entropy and the feasibility of a reaction. Thermodynamic and kinetic stability, fuel cells.

Other Information

The emphasis of this course will be on examination technique and the consolidation of basic principles and facts.

Past paper questions will be worked through and examiners’ mark schemes and comments provided.

Students attending the course are requested to have scientific calculators with them.

No practical work will be undertaken.

This course is available during A Level Session 1

Please note that the emphasis given to particular topics will be weighted to the needs and requirements of the candidates in the group. A Level courses include 18 hours of tuition (excluding breaks but including some testing) taken over 3 consecutive days. For more information, please look at our Fees and Dates.
